Challenge Deliver a cost effective alternative to structural steel and concrete construction. The owner wanted a non-combustible, steel structure, but was frustrated by the costs associated with traditional framing. Among the challenges were: · Construction time – always a critical issue – but more so since the building needed to be ready for incoming class of student-tenants. · The owner committed to employing a radiant-heat floor. · Site access and egress were exceptionally tight. Our Solution · Structure – all cold-formed steel, which is lightweight and noncombustible. Two critical elements of the project.· TradeReady® Floor System with poured cementitious underlayment easily accommodated the radiant floor heating requirement. · Wall panelization was a cost-effective solution in minimizing site access and storage concerns – expediting the construction schedule. · The framer drove the schedule, advancing the work schedule of the subsequent sub-trades. Building was ready in time – for its paying tenants. |
